For modern witches and wiccans, Samhain is perceived as the "Witch's New Year". Many believe that during Samhain "the veil between this world and the afterlife is at its thinnest point of the whole year".
Samhain is a Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter or the "darker half" of the year. Traditionally, it is celebrated from 31 October to 1 November, as the Celtic day began and ended at sunset.
Ella and I were actually planning a feast to celebrate Samhain. But we ended up settling for a ritual in the middle of the woods. Thanks, Ella, for helping me create this beautiful photo!
